A Beautiful Film

I have recently been exploring the deeper regions of the mind and how to activate the Neo Cortex.

The Neo Cortex is an essential aspect of mind when finding ways to move forward.

It lifts one out of the flight and fight responses of the earlier minds ( limbic and reptilian ) and invites us to a rational response to the deeper questions of our lives.

When the correct questions are asked, the right hemisphere of the Neo Cortex can be activated , so that one enters the high creative layers of mind and being.

One of the questions that activates the right hemisphere is the ancient Zen Koan .. Who am I ?

However, as I am very interested in entering the energetic layers of being and the deep unseen or unconscious aspects of self and other, I wondered how does one enter the Limbic or emotional brain in a conscious way.

And the answer that appeared was to watch films of an emotional quality.

This can be helpful, as it does not strongly activate ones nervous system, due to the buffering of 'this is not my personal story'.

And so, as an exercise into entering the emotional landscape of the limbic brain, I highly recommend this film..

And it is also a very beautiful film , the felt cinematography, the truthful and vulnerable actresses, and unusual, in that nature is such strong protagonist of the story. She weaves into the telling of this difficult tale between Mother and daughter.

it feels like nature, the Mother, is also a narrator and witness here, without judgement, just a gentle presence, encouraging us to meet each moment , regardless, whether we like the moment or not.

And in this, it feel to be a spiritual story of meeting the moment, as it is, or as Osho says, "God is , that which is." And if that is so, the deep question is how to meet or love and enter , that which is , regardless whether we like it or not. And this film will take you into this question.

It is a story of a woman who was abandoned by her Mother when she is 8 and then finds her at 43 , and the journey of this twining.

It is a surprising telling , and told beautiful. The actresses are true and a delight to watch.

You will find Sunday's Illness on Netflix. It is in Spanish and French and set in the beautiful Pyrenees.

Please share your reflections of this film and if it opens into your emotional world and /or gateways into the limbic brain.
